The Black Cat (1895-1922) was a monthly literary magazine, publishing original short stories, often about uncanny or fantastical topics. Many writers were largely unknown, but some famous authors also wrote original material for this magazine.
Issue Number 6 of Volume 4 includes the following stories:
> Underwater House, by Frank Bailey Millard: witness a loving woman make the ultimate sacrifice to save a man
> A Prince of the Jungle, by Carroll Carrington: it's not a good idea to keep a panther as pet
> A Death-Angel in Overalls, by A. H. Hutchinson: an outbreak of strange diseases is puzzling the local doctors
> The Castro Baby, by Mary Austin: listen to the touching story of a baby photography contest
> A Sagebrush Cicada, by Miriam Michelson: a story that shows that talent and intelligence unfortunately can't be bought by money
