Charles Williams was one of The Inklings, an Oxford based group of writers which included J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.

Although Williams' poetry was mainly influenced by his deeply held Christian faith, he also studied mysticism and had a great knowledge of and respect for the ideas and values of the classical world.

Divorce (1920) is Williams' third book of poetry following Poems of Conformity which is also available on Librivox.
