In this issue, "The Moral Pirates" battle nature and their dinner in the fifth part of their story, a young man tries his hand at piano tuning with off-key results in "Miss Pamela Plumstone's Piano", and city girl Julie sets off on a secret quest to locate the characters of Catskill folklore in the continuation of "Miss Van Winkle's Nap". Other highlights of this issue include the story of a dare that goes rather hairy in "Mr. Martin's Scalp"; the saga of "How the Little Smiths Got Their Fourth-of-July Money" by preparing for a patriotic family contest; and a lesson in the anatomy of flowers to find out "How Do They Grow?".
